Roberto Ortuno (Spanish, b. 1953) paints with a feel for nostalgia; a simpler aesthetic. He captures romance from a moment of simplicity. His use of colors fascinates me. There is a feeling that I usually only get with pastels and watercolors that his paintings evoke. His impressionistic style is quite different from other artists. Mr. Ortuno is in Spain, and his work has been sold primarily there. Public sales esults are spotty, although his high price realized is over $2500.00. I suspect that he has sold works at much higher amounts in Spain. A few pieces have found their way to the prestigious Clars Gallery and Heritage, and the Mainichi Auction the Mallett Galleries in Japan. One sale at Clars was over $1100.00 . I believe his work will begin to be purchased at much higher prices now that the economy seems to be improving. However, the reason to buy any art is because you get enjoyment from it.
