Francisco Masseria (Argentinean, b. 1926 - 2002) had an exciting talent for portraits. His faces seem to be looking at you and interacting. This is, in my opinion, one of the best of the best. You rarely see original oils by Masseria on the market. Rather, you see many plates and large editions of prints. This is certainly more expensive than the other rare original oils offered, but I believe it is one of his very best. Not some sullen faced waif, but a beautiful girl whose heart and personality shines through her eyes. As with most artists, some pieces are better than others, and I believe this is outstanding. The abstract background complements the incredible realism of the face. He has combined abstract with impressionist with realism. Fascinating artist who used his imagination for his portraits such as this. Initially, his children had dark backgrounds and more of realistic portraits.
