MICHEL GIRARD (French, b. 1939) -"Where The Fences Meet In Winter" - Original Signed Oil On Canvas
Michel Girard (French, b. 1939) is one of the leading French artists. His work has been sold primarily through galleries and at exhibits, so there is not a very accurate price history when one only looks at auction prices. His work is generally sold for between $2,000.00 and $10,000.00 or more. I have included his C. V. at the end of the listing. He is an important contemporary artist. This particular painting I find is splendid.

He began exhibiting his sculpture and drawings in the early 1970s and then his work started to enter private and public collections. He experimented with the meaning of public art and the "status of statue" and later, in the 1980s, he created several large-scale public art projects in forged steel on the decline of industrial era. He moved to New York in 1989, and the city provided new resources and materials for his work. In the last ten years he worked with memories of his childhood in occupied Paris during the Second World War making multi-media installations. He had more than fifty solo exhibitions in the galleries and museums in Europe, the United States, Japan, Korea, and Israel. Since 1980, Girard's work has continued to be shown around the world and honors have been numerous. Among the most prestigious, recognition has included the Grand Prize at the International Contemporary Art Festival in Monte Carlo, First Prize at the Salon des Artistes Francais and First Prize at the famed Salon d'Automne.
