Agostino Fossati (Italian, 1830-1904) has had more and more acclaim, and his recent auctions have gone up in price considerably, reaching a high auction price in May of 2016 of $25,850.00. We have no reason to believe that this increase in his prices won't continue. His work is wonderful. Many of his paintings are in a format of longer width to show a panorama view, and many are water scenes. This must have been a favorite of his. It seems to have been done with love.
