GEORGETTE TAVE (French, 1925 - 2008) - Expressionist Original Signed Oil On Canvas "Still Life With Fruit"
Georgette Tavé (French, 1925-2008) was born in 1925 in Elbeuf in Normandy. In 1950, she moved to Paris to integrate the School of Fine Arts with Jean Souverbie. After her formative years, she worked successively in the workshops of Fernand Leger, Andre Lhote and Jullian Academy. An Expressionist painter, she retained the master's use of color (pallet deepened by working regularly in the south) but came off the Cubist modeled for softer contours and rendering sweet, closer to Matisse's works. Her paintings depict mostly nudes and still lifes. In the 70s she exhibited regularly in England, Switzerland, Germany and France. Her works resumed her favorite subjects: still lifes and portraits of women, but also landscapes of Brittany, the region of origin and heart, which were more unusual. Her high reported auction price was $13,730.00. With the incredible fluctuations in the market, I feel we are offering this work, and another of her works, for quite low prices.
