Hector Caffieri (British, 1847-1932) was a masterful watercolorist primarily painting fishing scenes, English and French ports, flowers, and landscapes. He was born in Cheltenham Gloucestershire in England.
Caffieri worked and lived in London in 1880. Lived in 1889 in Cookham Berkshire and France from 1903, living for some
time in Boulogne-Sur-Mer on the northern coast, thus his great interest in coastal scenes. He had marvelous tutors having trained in Paris under Léon Bonnat, and Jules-Joseph Lefebvre , both great exponents of genre painting and both traditional academicians. Caffieri was a member of the New Water Colour Society which later became the Royal. He died in January of 1932.
His work has sold at major galleries, including Sothebys, Christies, Bonhams, Heritage, and many other significant galleries in Europe. His high public sales price was over $35,000.00. At the end of the listing we have given examples of his exhibitions.
