What a fantastic old thing this ...this large old GRAIN SCOOP has had extensive 'borer' activity many years ago although we have now thoroughly 'treated' the whole scoop just to certain. This was found in Norfolk on a recent buying trip to England. We have been given a 'probable' date of 1740-1760 and certainly the scoop looks to 'fit' that period. Note that this item was considered valuable enough to its owners that it was stapled together when split, and obviously was continued to be used for many years after. The Georgian 's and Victorian 's often stapled precious objects of treen, pottery, and porcelain so that they could continue to be used. The scoop is 16 1/2" in length and is 7 1/2" across at its widest point. A HISTORICALLY INTERESTING PIECE.
