Badge for the TD 6 ND, South Vietnam Special Forces, Airborne, 6th Battalion. This unit, The TD 6 ND AIRBORNE was originally formed under the French and was effectively destroyed by the Viet Minh at Dien Bien Phu in 1954.
Re-Activated in 1958 under joint French - US control the unit was effectively US Special Force trained with the French having little input before their final departure from Vietnam in 1959.
