An amazing old pair of CHURCH CANDLE STICKS dating I think to the mid - late 1800's.The style is a wonderful mix of French Provincial and Classical form. The base and bottom stem is cast brass with the fluted column being pressed brass...hollow...and the top again being made of solid brass. The column and top pieces are attached by way of a rod through the base. Note the embellishments on the triangular base....3 scenes depicted...being... I think.....the Sacred Heart, Lord Jesus, and The Tabernacle...with a scroll decoration above each and what look like Lions Paw feet and a cartouche decoration at base. The 'sticks ' are tall at 16" high. I'm wondering if these are of French Roman Catholic origins? Certainly a very impressive set of Religious Candle Sticks.
