I have had this Massive 1858-1859 volume titled THE SPIRES & TOWERS OF THE MEDIEVAL CHURCHES OF ENGLAND for a number of years now. The books Author is Charles Wickes, Architect, and it was Published by Thompson & Co of London. The book is HUGE being 22 1/2" x 14 3/4"in size....about 1 1/2" thick and contains some 95 pages of all the medieval Churches in England. The major Cathedrals and Churches are in Full Page Size and the lesser Parish Churches etc are two to four or more to a page. These wonderful engravings are ideal for framing-up and all bar 1 or 2 are in beautiful condition....some need the page edge being trimmed which we will do.....this is due to brittleness of the edges due to age/ sunlight....the pages are otherwise near perfect with beautiful drawings and detail. Many do have the stamp of the New Zealand Institute of Architects at the page top.
The drawings are by CHARLES WICKES and The Lithography was done by DAY & Co, Lithographers to Queen Victoria.
