A nice little BUD VASE from the CUNARD Liner R.M.S. ANDANIA. Condition is good....some dings around base area but overall the plating is very good and the crest is excellent. The ANDANIA was built in 1922 at Newcastle on Tyne for CUNARD LINE. She was a 14000 ton Steamer initially on the Hamburg - New York run and later the Liverpool to Montreal run. ANDANIA was fitted-out as an Armed Merchant Cruiser in 1939 at the outbreak of WW11. In June of 1940 she was sunk about 70 miles of the Icelandic Coast by the German Submarine U-A. With an active 'life' for CUNARD of just 16 years souvenir items off the vessel are obviously rarer than for a vessel with a much longer life span.
