A rare old USHER'S WHISKY Stone ware MATCH HOLDER & STRIKER carrying RUDYARD KIPLING'S verse 'The Absent Minded Beggar'. This is a BOER WAR piece Circa 1898 of verse about the British Tommy in South Africa and the war. The piece has two shallow chips in the vesta holder rim part and has age crazing consistent with it's 110 years of age. The maker is the well known LONDON porcelain company of RAPHAEL TUCK & SONS.
