Early 19th Century French Engraving Nouvelle ZealandEarly 19th Century French Engraving Nouvelle Zealand

This small engraving appears to be an original. rather than a cutting from a publication.....can see no dot matrix so certainly not a recent print. The title is ... "Naturels executant une danse a bord". This "danse" is very obviously a Maori Haka. The engraving has noted on the border...del. Danvin, and Nme. Lesueur. Measures 10 1/4" x 8 1/2". Fairly recently framed by the look of it. Artist Victor Danvin lived from 1802-1842. Great item for anyone interested in New Zealand or Pacific history. One of three similar ones we have listed.
