This is a Bound Volume with Boards and embossed volume name to the Leather Spine....there is a split to spine join at top...... the boards are complete but paper covering is torn and ripped.....book is nice and tight on spine though. Book size is 16 3/4" x 11 1/4" of 644 pages and the weight is 4 kilos. The volume is complete with exception of one colour fold out that has lost half of the page. Some rips and tears to some pages as to be expected but in general the volume is very clean and tidy for age. There are several linen backed colour fold outs and full page illustrations plus a huge number of other engraved illustrations throughout....very interesting volume covering a huge range of 'goings on' in The British Empire and World in general.
The Illustrated London News appeared first on Saturday 14 May 1842, as the world's first illustrated weekly news magazine. Founded by Herbert Ingram, it appeared weekly until 1971, then less frequently thereafter, and ceased publication in 2003. The company continues today as Illustrated London News Ltd, a publishing, content and digital agency in London, which holds the publication and business archives of the magazine.
