A fine Bronze Letter Opener with figural Napoleon Bonaparte to handle. Sculpted by Maurice Delannoy in the early 1900's and sold through Arthus Bertrand of Paris. The piece is in beautiful condition and measures 8" in length. Maurice Delannoy (1885-1972) attended the Germain Pilon School where he studied with Charles Valton and Jules Édouard Roiné . He is a member of the Society of French Artists and was a awarded a 'first' medal in 1931. Maurice Delannoy designs Moroccan, Lebanese and Monegasque coins . The illustrated general catalog of the Monnaie de Paris editions lists 99 medals from his hand. Delannoy was appointed knight of the Legion of Honor in 1947.
