I found this in Devon, England on a recent Buying Trip and was rather intrigued by it. The medal comes with what looks like a French Ribbon, and the depiction of a Classical lady holding aloft an Olive Branch also appears French. I can find no mention of the NEW JERSEY ASSICIATION OF MASTER HAIRDRESSERS although there is a listing for the New Jersey Master Hairdressers & Cosmetologists in the 1950's. I think this medal dates to early 1900 's and had the Master Hairdressers small rondel added to it so it could be used as a competition award. Medal appears to be bronze and has a diameter of 1 1/2". Probably made as a 'One Off" and therefore is a rare item.....great for collectors in the hairdressing arena or the history of New Jersey perhaps.
