A sublime Holy Water Font....marble or alabaster base with brass backing with center roundel of The Madonna in copper with bronze surround and typical French Bow to top. Finished off with a lovely little crystal glass water font held with a bronze fitting. The piece is signed as ...S. Kinsburger and it measures 6" in length and 3 1/" in width. A Quality Piece. Sylvain Kinsburger was born in Paris on January 21st, 1855, and died in 1935. He was known for his sculpture in bronze and ceramics, medal engravings, trophies and drawings. Kinsburger created.sculpture in the genre style with cherubs and angels and depictions of ordinary life. He was a student of Augustin Alexandre Dumont and of Émile Eugène Thomas. His first exhibition of sculpture at the Salon de Paris was in 1878 and he became a member of the Société des Artistes Français. He continued to exhibit at the Salon where he obtained two honorable mentions in 1884 and 1886, and two third place awards in 1888 and 1889 for his sculptures. In 1889 at the Exposition Universelle in Paris Kinsburger also received a bronze medal.
