This huge Door Knocker appears to have come from the SAVE and PROSPER INSURANCE COMPANY BUILDING having The Crest of the Company with it's name engraved on it. The 'Knocker is made of brass ...is very heavy and measures 11" x 78" in size. Save & Prosper Insurance Group, based in Romford Essex was founded in 1934 and once one of the best known brands in the insurance industry. They were a medium sized player in the UK Market place for protection, pensions, savings & investments and had their own direct sales force. Save and Prosper was the second oldest unit trust brand in Britain but was unfortunately killed off under shake-up plans by Robert Fleming Holdings which bought the business outright in 1988. Save & Prosper ceased issuing new policies in 1998. In 2000 Fleming, the family-owned bank was bought by American giant Chase Manhattan; Save & Prosper became part of J.P. Morgan Asset Management. In 2010 Chesnara Plc then completed the transfer acquisition of Save & Prosper from JP Morgan Asset Management and transferred across to Countrywide Assured in 2011. Countrywide Assured now mainly specialise in closed life & investment business.
