Fashioned from Pewter or Britannia Metal this lovely little Trinket or Jewellery Box would date to around the opening or early years of the WOOLWORTH Building in 1913. It is silver plated and the plating is in good condition.....has not been cleaned / polished...it is as we received it.The decoration on the case is more of the Edwardian Style than any other. The silk lining is original....shows some wear signs as would be expected. The case measures 4 3/8" x 3" x 2 1/2" in height. The Woolworth Building, at 233 Broadway, Manhattan, New York City, designed by architect Cass Gilbert and completed in 1913, is one of the early US skyscrapers. More than a century after the start of its construction, it remains, at 241.4 meters (792 ft), one of the one-hundred tallest buildings in the United States as well as one of the twenty tallest buildings in New York City. It has been a National Historic Landmark since 1966, and a New York City landmark since 1983.
