A very peculiar portrait of a lady, Flemish school, XIX Century.
Signed Théo Goethals (Théophile Goethals, 1870-1949).
Handwritten note on the back, hardly readable: "Apres XV siècle Musée ancien Bruxelles".
Beautifully detailed and very representative of the Flemish portrait tradition. A real gem for the collector.
Dimensions with frame: 18.1 x 22 inches (46 x 56 cm).
Dimensions of the board, without frame: 11.6 x 15.7 inches (29,5 x 40 cm).
In good antique condition, the paint is slightly cracked on the corners and borders (see pictures). There is a word (maybe "bonjour") written in pencil on the right side of the headpiece), hardly visible to the naked eye, probably easy to delete.
Recently framed in vintage / antique frame.
