An early Victorian English silver milk jug. The jug has a classical baluster form with an `S` scrolling handle. There are engraved initials below the spout and the jug has a delightful cast rim foot of foliate scrolls.
A jug full of character and even after nearly 180 years of use is still in very good condition.
The jug comes from the well known family of silversmiths, the Barnard brothers, measures 5 1/4" up to the spout, 4 3/4" from the spout to the end of the handle and weighs245 gms or approximately 8 ozs. The jug is hallmarked for London 1839.
