It isn't easy these days to find good wall boxes in paint. This example is constructed of solid cherry with a pine bottom. There are dovetails on all 4 corners and the base is attached with square nails. A lift lid pivots on two iron pins. The sides of the box retain the original red paint and the top and back have a mellow old finish. Dating from the first half of the 1800's, the box measures 11.5" wide x 11.25" tall x 8" deep.
CONDITION: The box is in good overall condition with a few old age cracks and a repair.
