If you love carnelians, this is the necklace you've been waiting for. Its extraordinary design is breathtaking, and you'll be amazed at the intricacy of its construction. Three bezel set, oval cabochon carnelians form the centerpiece, and they are framed with highly decorative silver work studded with tiny marcasites. Light passes through the little open spaces so that the stones shine. Attached (with soldered links) to this center piece is a beautifully detailed link chain with marcasites, and a small extender with spring ring.
Though unmarked, this necklace was made in Germany, probably about 1910, judging from the voluptuous design. I have listed two similar pieces, earrings and a pendant, that are marked Sterling Germany, and date from the Art Deco period.
The centerpiece measures about 3-1/2" across and has a slight upward curve. The middle framed stone is 1-1/4"; the right and left framed stones are also 1-1/4" including the triangular side piece. The overall length of the necklace is 16".
Excellent condition, all original, not one missing stone. This is an heirloom piece for your collection!
