Superb Art Deco green tourmaline and diamond ring. Unusual and distinctive, with a richly colored tourmaline surrounded by sparkling diamonds that remind me of shooting stars.
The central oval cabochon tourmaline measures 16mm by 11mm, quite a remarkable size. It is framed by eight bezel set, old mine cut diamonds of S11 clarity, weighing approximately 50/100 Ct TW.
This gorgeous ring is large in format. The head of the ring measures 1" north to south and 3/4" east to west. The ring stands about 1/4" above the finger. By most standards, this stone would be considered huge.
It is a size 6-1/2 and weighs 5.9g.
While the hallmarks have worn and are illegible, it has been fully tested. I purchased this ring from the previous owner who bought it in Europe in the 1930s.
My gemologist has prepared a formal appraisal, which I will include. The current replacement value for insurance purposes is $2400.
