Sterling and cultured pearl earrings by Modernist jeweler Ed Levin, dating from the 1960s. Levin has stated that his aesthetic was most influenced by the sculptor Alexander Calder, and that is evident here in the whimsical design of these earrings. Formed in a modified hour glass shape, one long bar of silver crosses over the other, with supporting horizontal bars at each end; a vertical column holding two pearls dissects the middle. They measure 1-3/4" from the top of the ear screw. Marked Sterling on one earring and Levin on the other. Easily changed to posts or wires for pierced ears, without losing the artist's signature. Excellent condition.
