Antique Victorian locket with enamel and pastes, the head of an Egyptian queen, in rosy gold fill. This Egyptian Revival piece dates from the late 1800s and it's a beauty. The oval enameled front shows expert painting and coloration of a draped woman with large, brooding eyes. Her face is accentuated by three bright clear pastes as jewels. Framed by a twisted rope and delicate engravings, the image is captivating. It's a stunning and unusual locket.

Inside, there is one glass-lidded compartment (which I have not opened). The condition is very fine with no enamel loss, and the back shows only gentle, age-commensurate surface wear. It opens and closes well with a snap. The locket is unmarked but acid-tested.

The locket measures about 1-1/2" by 1" and the bail adds 1/4".
