Antique Art Nouveau locket signed George N. Steere (GNS) with faux sapphires and ornate decorations. This is a highly unusual piece for Steere, as it is made in two colors of gold fill, rose and yellow. Two square paste stones in cobalt blue adorn the top alongside two very fancy, detailed applied shapes that resemble crowns, fans, or shells. The locket has the characteristic Steere fold-over metal edge and vertical cuts for texture. The top portion is yellow gold fill and the bottom is rose gold fill as is the back. The locket is not fitted. It opens and closes with a snap. The reverse shows some wear in the middle. Overall the locket is in very good condition. Each stone has one minuscule flea bite. It measures 1-1/2" by 1-1/4" and weighs 18.1g. This is a remarkable locket for Steere collectors. Read more about Steere in my other listings.
