Antique Art Nouveau locket necklace by George N. Steere, large and very long, a rare find. This opulent necklace features an ornate locket with a 55" chain that has four stations. The vivid lime green glass is particularly striking.

The locket, 1-3/4" around, has a raised, swooping design like a wild cornucopia, a bright glass stone at its mouth. The surface of half the locket is textured for interest. The reverse of the locket shows fancy initials. It opens and closes well with a snap. One side has its lens and the other side is signed GNS.

The four, beautifully designed stations on the chain, each 1-1/8", lie asymmetrically. The spring ring at the bottom holds the locket.

All of the gold filled metal has age-commensurate wear, as expected, not particularly noticeable without a loupe. The center stone has a chipped edge and two of the four stations on the chain have tiny chipped corners.

Please have a look my Steere collection on Pinterest for more of the artist's work.
