Antique Art Nouveau fob necklace by George N. Steere, early 1900s. I'm a Steere devotee and haven't yet seen a fob that the owner had adapted for a striking necklace. This custom work piece has a long chain, 30", with a 4-1/2" pendant fob, so it hangs like a sautoir. The piece is gilt brass.

While it does not have the Steere hallmark, I guarantee the authenticity of the center and bottom elements. The pharaoh's head, top element, may not be an original Steere piece. None of the fobs in my Steere collection is signed.

Glorious Egyptian images are displayed here with open-work elements: a pharaoh's head; twin, green-eyed snakes facing outward on a dramatic, ornate whiplash frame for a sapphire paste; and a majestic oval paste suspended below a blue lotus flower and spiral columns.

The two top loops support the chain, which is gold filled. The condition of the piece is very good with only minor facet wear on the large paste, no chips.

If you're a Steere fan, don't hesitate.
