Antique Victorian chalcedony drop earrings in 9ct gold, 2-1/4" long. These beauties feature round and teardrop stones that glow; they are translucent with a blue-gray hue. Each earring has two stones, a round cabochon at the top and a capped teardrop at the bottom. The stones are framed by intricately engraved gold cutouts with leaf and flower designs.
Constructed in two parts, the earrings can be worn with tops alone or with bottoms added: day and night. The earrings' lower stones hang freely, swaying inside the slender frames, providing lovely movement when wearing.
Unmarked, the earrings test as 9ct gold. They are front-clasp, hooking into the small top hole at the reverse. There is a small piece of gold missing from the bottom of one earring, see highly magnified photos. They measure 2-1/4" from the top by 5/8" at widest, and the combined weight is 7.4g.
