Art Deco dazzling paste brooch with faux diamonds and sapphires in 935 silver. Spectacular brilliance and great design make this pin a stand out. It features three round, raised stones set vertically and framed with tiny pastes; two raised circular elements filled with tiny pastes in flower shapes; and a complex, geometric base that is open-worked and edge-trimmed, filled with clear and blue pastes. The circles and squares, horizontals and verticals, play against each other beautifully. The silver is plated for extra shine. All the stones are original and none is missing.
Marked 935 (for greater silver content than sterling) and WB, this treasure was made by Wilhelm Becker of Pforzheim, Germany, c1925. I have included a couple of period advertisements for Becker's jewels.
The brooch measures 1-1/2" by 15/16" and is in excellent condition. It weighs 13.2, a nice, sturdy weight, and the trombone clasp works perfectly.
