Antique Victorian garnet brooch pendant on a vintage 14k chain with four garnet stations. Glorious, deep red Bohemian garnets sparkle brilliantly on this remarkable piece. Four graduated tiers in elaborate, contrasting patterns of stones provide rich color and texture; there are two flowers at center and the metal is domed and open-worked. Ten petal-like shapes give the piece its overall floral form, and a large, ornate, hinged bail adds the crowning touch. It comes with a separate vintage 14k chain bearing four matched garnet stations that complement the pendant perfectly. There is also a pin for wearing as a brooch; the original c-clasp has been replaced by a safety clasp.
I have not tested the gilt metal of the pendant and it is unmarked. Victorian garnet jewels are usually gilt silver or another base metal.
The pendant is 2-1/4" including the bail by 1-1/2" at widest. The chain measures 15" and each of the stations is 7/16" x 1/4".
The condition is excellent with no missing stones and no damage.
