Antique Victorian brooch with a center heart, and sixteen garnets and seed pearls, in 9ct rosy gold. The open heart at center, measuring about 1/2"around, is set with sparkling garnets and seed pearls (about 1mm), all original and in fine condition. On each side of the heart are two thick, interlocking and engraved coils, or love knots, in a horizontal format, providing a sturdy frame; and above the heart, a twisted wire bow tied in a knot. The original safety chain with pin is attached here. The c-clasp works perfectly.
This romantic and sentimental lover's brooch comes in its original tooled leather box lined in dark cream-colored silk and velvet. The brooch is marked for Birmingham, 9, 375, and the small letter "z" for 1899-1900. There is a maker's mark as well which includes the letter "J".
The brooch measures 1-3/4" by 11/16" and is in excellent condition.
The black leather box with gold trim is 2-3/4" x 1-1/4" x 3/4" and is in very good condition.
