Antique Art Nouveau stick pin with snake and ruby glass by George Steere, unmarked. Steere worked in the early 1900s and much of his output is unsigned; however, his creature jewelry is unmistakeable. Here, the charming serpent with green cabochon eyes is slithering along, and its head rests on a ruby red stone. The base is a long oval with textured surface, all gilt metal.
The head of the pin measures 1" long and 1/2" wide. From end to end, the pin measures 2-1/2". The condition is very good with no chips or scratches to the glass and expected surface wear to the back. The green cabochon eyes are original.
