Antique Art Nouveau stick pin with snake and ruby glass by George Steere, unmarked. Steere worked in the early 1900s and much of his output is unsigned; however, his creature jewelry is unmistakeable. Here, the charming serpent with green cabochon eyes is slithering along, and its head rests on a ruby red stone. The base is a long oval with textured surface, all gilt metal.

The head of the pin measures 1" long and 1/2" wide. From end to end, the pin measures 2-1/2". The condition is very good with no chips or scratches to the glass and expected surface wear to the back. The green cabochon eyes are original.

Please see my other listings for more information about George N. Steere and to see further examples of his artistry. You may also enjoy seeing my full collection of Steere jewels on Pinterest.
