Theodor Fahrner brooch in smoky quartz, silver and marcasites. Beautifully constructed in the "millegriff" technique of soldered corded wires, this is a very fine example of "Original Fahrner" jewelry from the mid-1930s. It is a four-lobed brooch, with richly textured, overlapping tiers made up of tiny spirals and crescents of gleaming marcasites. The center is the jewel in the crown: a large and brilliant smoky quartz stone. At 20mm, it is magnificent. Fahrner gemstones must be seen in person to be appreciated-- their quality is always superb.
This substantial brooch weighs 16.6g and it has a secure safety clasp. It measures about 1-1/2" by 1-1/2". The back is marked Original Fahrner, with a TF in a circle and 925 for sterling silver. The condition is excellent with no chips, scratches, or flea bites to the stone.
