Art Deco galaith earrings with marcasites in silver, marked Sterling, Germany. These beauties date from the 1930s and feature an open ring, a long pendent element, a tear shaped bottom bead, and three marcasites. They are set in sterling silver. The fancy ear screws hold a black glass faceted bead and a marcasite, providing the connecting mounting for the lower portion.
The red galaith is a rich brick red in color, not true red. The rings show a little surface wear and there is a tiny flake at one connecting hole at the top of the black pendent. Close examination reveals that one of the top beads is a replacement but you won't notice it. They measure 2-3/4" by 3/8" and each earring weighs 3g.
These are stunning-- and I've never seen another pair like them.
