Magnificent Art Deco brooch by Theodor Fahrner with huge smoky quartz stone, coral stones, and pink and green enameling, in its original box.
This phenomenal brooch is crafted in 935 silver with a prong-set, faceted center smoky quartz; twelve corded wire flowers with natural coral centers; and pink (or mauve) and green enameling. It is signed TF and 935 on the reverse. It dates from about 1927. The brooch is 1-3/4" by 1-3/8"; the stone is 30mm by 20mm.
As a bonus, it is presented in its original box. It is lined in cream silk and velvet, pink colored on the exterior to match the enamel, decorated with gold, and marked Germany on the back. The paper has lifted on the bottom corner and on the hinge, otherwise it looks clean with gentle wear.
The condition of the brooch is very fine. One of the coral centers has an abraded surface, but there are no chips or scratches to the smoky quartz and the enamel is all intact. It's likely that there was a top prong at one time, but there is no sign of removal or damage in this area. I have not cleaned the brooch.
