Antique Victorian locket with a crescent moon face, six seed pearls, and a star in red paste. Man-in-the-Moon antique jewels are always exciting to find, and this square locket in rose gold fill is outstanding. The crescent moon has a beautifully detailed face, with accents of deeper gold along the edges; and it has six seed pearls as decoration. It looks towards a red paste star on the right with radiating lines. (My camera didn't pick up the sparkling, deep red color of the stone.) The interior is clean without any fittings or maker's marks. There is an attached ring for a bail, and your jeweler can supply an appropriate bail for hanging from a chain. The locket measures 7/8" square, opens and closes with a snap, and has nicely trimmed edges. The condition is very good with original, undamaged stones, and no dings or dents, just age commensurate gentle surface wear.
