Antique Victorian ring with five large, clear pastes set in an elaborate gold setting. This ring is absolutely gorgeous. Five beautifully faceted pastes, 4mm each, sparkle brightly in their raised mounting. They're squared in shape and have pointed bottoms. Prong-set, they are framed with four slender bars showing traces of black enameling. The shoulders of the ring are ornately engraved and shaped.
Given as a gift, the inside is marked OFR to CER, probably a husband to his wife to celebrate a special occasion.
The ring is unmarked but has been jeweler tested as 14K gold, and it is a mellow, rosy gold color. The stones stand 5/16" above the finger and measure about 9/16" north-south and east-west; their condition is very good with minor age commensurate surface wear. A scratch is visible only under magnification. The ring is size 6-1/2.
