Antique cigar or cheroot holder with dimensional spider, web, and fly, in silver, gold, and amber. This outstanding piece features a beautifully drawn silver spider's web with a trapped fly; a large, eight-legged, applied spider decoration; and leafy foliage.
The mouthpiece is amber and the trim is rose gold (untested). It has its own silk-lined, wood case with secure clasp and hinges. The amber shows wear from use, but the silver and gold work are perfect. The paper covering of the case has peeled off in many places. I haven't cleaned the silver, but a gentle polishing would highlight the gorgeous details. The holder measures 2-3/4" and the case is 3-1/2". Across the top, the opening is 7/16".
The silver is marked with an Austrian dog's head indicating Vienna, 800 silver, 1867-1922, with the maker's mark J.H.
