Antique Victorian lion head bangle bracelets, matched pair, in rose and yellow gold fill with genuine rubies. This is a gorgeous pair of bracelets, each one featuring a fully sculpted lion’s head with two red paste eyes, a detailed face and mane; and an ornate, shell-like decoration with a sparkling, genuine ruby stone. The dimensionality and texture are outstanding.
The lions’ heads and the large decorations have a “frosted’ finish and are richly embellished with beading, applied twisted rope design, and fancy little terminals.
The bracelets date from about 1870. They are unmarked but fully tested.
Measuring 6” internal circumference, the bracelets are for a small wrist, less than 6”, and they are 3/4" at widest. They are in very fine condition with perfectly working clasps and hinges. There is a tiny area of discoloration where an old repair was made, more visible under magnification than in person. Delicate safety chains are attached.
