Early Art Deco pendant in green chrysoprase with creamy seed pearls and bright marcasites, marked Sterling, Germany. This antique treasure dates from around 1915-1920 and its beautiful condition shows that it has been well cared for. The tiny pearls strung around the central stone are in excellent shape with none missing. The translucent chrysoprase oval features a vase of flowers, and the ornate marcasite arrangement above it depicts a rose surrounded by leafy forms. The stepped bottom is trimmed with sparkling marcasites as well.
This pendant is rich in color and texture. The reverse is marked Sterling, Germany, and the construction and design are outstanding. You may notice some resemblance to the work of Germany’s great Theodor Fahrner. It measures 2-1/4” including the beaded bail. The 15” chain is marked Sterling and it has the old thumb catch on the spring ring.
