Antique Edwardian brooch in cobalt blue and white enamel, sterling silver with a gold wash, by the Danish maker Hans Hansen (1884-1940). Exquisite in detail, this finely crafted brooch combines guilloche enamel, filigreed wire, delicate chains, ornate plaques, solid and open-worked silver (with a mellow gold wash), and dangling drops. Please examine all my photos to fully appreciate the elaborate design of this remarkable piece.
It is marked 925S for sterling and it bears the Hans Hansen makers mark of conjoined HHs. There is a minor flaw in the enameling on the medallion at the left side, not obvious to the naked eye. One of the dangles is slightly lighter blue than the other two, original to the manufacturing process. It measures 3-5/8” long by 1-1/8” at widest.
