Antique Victorian enameled angel or cherub brooch pendant with guilloche enameling and seed pearls in sterling silver with a gold wash. Breathtaking in design and finely crafted, this is a small masterwork.
The face of the angel is hand enameled in great detail with beautiful coloration. This endearing figure is wearing an ornate pointed collar of silver and pearls. The guilloche enameled disk is deep green with radiating lines. It has a white and gold border that is punctuated with dark blue dots. This centerpiece is surrounded with an elaborate design of pearls that rise from the edges of the frame.
The angel’s head and collar is constructed in silver and it surmounts the round enameled disk which sits atop a framing of bezel-set pearls and silver beading, forming three tiers. The back has a gold wash which is also evident on the frame.
The reverse is hallmarked LP. There is a loop at top for hanging as a pendant. The left side of the clasp appears to be an old replacement for a c-clasp; this has a safety catch for security. It measures 1-3/16" around.
The condition is excellent with no damage to the enameling or pearls. You can understand why this darling jewel was treasured.
