Art Nouveau sash pin with slithering snake and highly textural surface, featuring a center purple paste stone, in brass. Beautifully designed, the serpent has a detailed face and body, with diamond-patterned scales. This undulating creature is only half visible, with its body “hidden” behind the brooch. The surface is extremely lively, resembling either arid soil or an abstract wilderness. The faceted purple glass stone rises to a pointed middle; while it has no chips, one of the facets shows wear. The brooch is very large, measuring just under three inches by two inches, and it is slightly domed. The c-clasp and pin back are perfectly secure.
