Art Nouveau sash pin with dragon, large glass stone, and engraved surface, by George N. Steere, signed GNS. George Steere was a creative genius working between 1906-1912, and there is little known about him. His innovative techniques and brilliant design are displayed in all his work.
This gilt brass pin features a dimensional dragon atop an octagonal, faux citrine stone, in a fan-shaped pin with a beautifully engraved surface and curling edges. The dragon has green eyes and is nicely detailed.
The faceted stone is a color that might be described as pale amber. As is typical for stones of this era, it has slight surface wear, a nick and a small scratch, but no chips and nothing offensive. The metal is in age-commensurate condition and still looks great. The c-clasp pin works perfectly.
The pin measures 3-1/4” by 2”.
