Antique sash pin brooch with elaborate enameling in brilliant colors. The interplay of the Persian or Indian boteh motif (paisley) with tiny rectangles and flower forms, all in bold colors, is remarkable. And the workmanship is very fine, guilloche (engine-turned) enameling in a variety of patterns. Looking closely, you can see that the enamel has a metallic glow. This amazing brooch dates from the Art Nouveau period and its condition is excellent with virtually no enamel loss. Large in size, it measures 2-1/2” by 1-11/16” and it has a secure c-clasp. The metal is gilt brass.
