I'm always pleased to offer the jewelry of my uncle, Henry Steig, whose work in sterling silver during the 1950s and `60s distinguished him as Modernist master. This layered ring is intriguing because its design is open to interpretation: leaf, candle flame, faces? I have always seen it as a broken heart. It measures 1-1/16" from north to south and 5/8" at widest. Marked Steig Sterling, it is size 7-3/4, and has not been polished. The condition is excellent.
