Antique Victorian lion's head stick pin in gold over silver. This nicely contoured beast has a detailed mane and expressive features.
The ruby colored stones in the face add vibrant color: the eyes are round cabochons, too small to test, and the mouth is a gemstone, testing as a garnet or tourmaline. One of the eye stones has a tiny chip along the edge, but it is deeply set and not apparent.
The head measures 9/16" by 1/2" and the pin, which is slightly bent, measures 2-3/8". The pin has the French boar's head mark for 800-900 silver and a maker's mark that I can't identify. Top to bottom, about 2-1/2".
