Dating from the reign of Emperor Napoleon III (1852 – 1870), this wonderful little set was created by the famous Tahan workshop based at Rue de la Paix, Paris.
The ebonised case has brass banding and a brass inset monogram.
Inside, five beautifully crafted sewing tools – scissors, needle case, stiletto, bodkin and thimble - nestle in the velvet lining. The scissors, needle case, stiletto and bodkin are gold-plated.
The maker’s name is engraved on a plaque inside the case.
Measures 4 ½ inches by 2 ½ inches.
Condition: the exterior of the case has dings, dents and scratches including one on the back that is about 1 ½ inches long. The open/close mechanism works well and the tools are in very nice condition. There is a little discoloration on the padded silk inside the lid.
PLEASE NOTE: this item will be shipped internationally by DHL to ensure it is properly insured. Within the UK Royal Mail will be used.
